Abstract

The article deals with the main metaphorical models used in Donald Trump's political discourse. The need to understand the cognitive mechanisms of Trump's rhetoric impact on the modern political environment and his speech on mass consciousness determines the relevance of this study. The purpose of the work is to identify the dominant metaphorical models in Trump's speech, to reveal their pragmatic potential. The novelty of the study lies in the comprehensive analysis of metaphorical constructions through the prism of cognitive linguistics, taking into account the latest socio-political context. The work uses such methods as cognitive-discourse analysis, content analysis and interpretation. The material of the study is based on D. Trump's speech at the inauguration ceremony in 2025. The results of the study allow for a deeper understanding of the features of political communication in the era of social polarization and can be used in further research of political discourse
